Roles and Responsibilities
Industry In the Indian insurance sector, technological advancements such as connected
devices, IoT, AI, and big data analytics are bringing transformation to operations, risk
understanding, product creation, distribution & reach to the end-user. New Age & Traditional
Insurers are now co-creating and adapting their offerings to the new digital environment. They
need to partner with digital platforms and Insuretech to enable more personalized management
and significantly increase the penetration of insurance in India. For an Insurance company to offer
differentiated offerings 'consciously', one of the key levers is to have a distribution partner who
understands customer behavior very well and could predict a customer's propensity to fraud/claim
basis his past transaction/purchase data..
2. Team is housed under Payment ecosystem.
The charter of this team is to enable financial solutions/services for a wider set of users on the platform. For
InsureTech, teamaspires to offer innovative, personalized & data-driven insurance products
to website users with a seamless buying journey, underwriting, and claims experience.
3. Position - The position described below is for the InsureTech vertical; for driving key strategic
initiatives focused on enabling the growth of the websites' categories (e.g. Mobiles, Large, LifeStyle,
Furniture, etc.) through relevant products and E2E execution.
About the Role
1. Major Responsibilities: As a core member of the Insurance Team, you would be responsible for
driving the following KPIs
A. Internal to the company
a. Scout and Pitch different Insurance offerings relevant for company's existing categories
Physical like mobile phones or large appliances and Digital like Fintech / Travel etc (for enabling
top or bottom-line)
b. Conceptualization of how an insurance offering can be bundled with the category's primary
product - would demand understanding Legal, Compliance, Business Finance, Product,
Engineering and Insurer's constraints and coming up with a holistic solution
c. Driving the final concept to the execution stage and making sure the end solution is scalable
and flexible in the long run
i. Working closely with Product and Tech / to unblock things to adhere to launch timelines
ii. Working closely with company's Legal/ compliance Team to lead a discussion with Insurer to
unblock things
iii. Working closely with Category to ensure the overall objective of team is met
d. Responsible for charting out AOP and co-owning the metrics with Category and BizFin Team
e. Program Management and Accounting/MIS Reporting (weekly / fortnightly) to Leadership
team with help from Business ops
B. External to the company
a. Driving market expertise on Whats next in Insurance space, how is it meaningful for
the company, and what could be the strategy to take it to market.
b. Build relationships in the Insurance fraternity for exploring any 'one of a kind' / 'exclusive'
product for the platform
c. Build Insurance domain expertise to channelize mindset/expectations effectively
among Insurer partners & service providers
2. Qualifications
A. MBA from a leading business school
B. 6-8 years of post-MBA experience with at least 1-2 years exposure in the e-commerce
domain
C. Exposure to launching new products/offerings is a must.
D. Previous experience in the InsurTech industry is good to have
3. Key Competencies
A. Entrepreneurial / Business Development skills with Structured Problem-Solving approach
B. Fair knowledge of handling Legal/Compliance nuances is a must (as this role would demand
complex interactions with the company and Insurer's Legal team)
C. Experience in launching / leading Products with multifaceted teams (Product / Engineering/
Marketing/Demand Planning & Growth)
D. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
E. Deep collaboration to meet objectives with various internal & external stakeholders
F. Experience in MIS reporting with reasonable understanding (hands-on) of data analytics
